Life After Influencing

Somehow, I never pushed publish on this thought from April of 2023. It’s still a good thought:

I saw a big and important article about life after being an influencer at the New York Times. Social media has many hazards; due to how rapidly social media entered the world of business, we have only had a little over a decade to figure out what healthy and unhealthy social media use (even professional use) looks like. I see this as an important step in the maturation of social media: we need to, as a field, figure out ways to be a field healthily and productively–and not burn everyone out. It’s going to take a while to figure this out, but it’s important that we do it.
