A New Article!

I’m pleased to announce that I have a new article out today. It’s called “Artist Communication: An Interdisciplinary Business and Professional Communication Course.” It focuses on a course I taught while a doctoral student at the Communication, Rhetoric, and Digital Media program at North Carolina State University. If you’re looking for a communications course focused on the work that artists do, this may give you some ideas about rationale, readings, assignments, and class planning. I see it as being particularly valuable for arts entrepreneurship programs and programs interested in workplace communication.

I would particularly like to thank Brian Penick of Musicians’ Desk Reference for getting my students the Reference, the fine editors and anonymous reviewers of Business and Professional Communication Quarterly for their help in improving the article, the fictional band Mouse Rat for appearing in this article, and the CRDM for letting graduate students design and teach their own class. That choice is a small sacrifice on the faculty’s part that pays huge dividends in the life of graduate students and young faculty.

Here’s to many more!
